FALSE. Like any piece of machinery they occasionally breakdown. With proper matainence, I believe Yanmar is one of the best compact tractors made or else I would not be involved with them. ....

I know that Yanmar marine diesels are the most reliable and sought-after diesel in the Alaska fishing industry. It probably carried over to the tractor division I would think. ....

They are good enough that John Deere sold them under the Deere label for many years, and they are still one of the most sought-after used tractors on the market. You very seldom see any negative comments on them on this forum, as opposed to some of the more recent Deeres. Also, according to more knowledgeable people on this forum than me, the Deere label Yanmar's were not even the top of the line models in the overall Yanmar lineup. ....

This is false the Yanmar tractors 4wd or 2wd for that matter are first class products, with an excellent reputation. We have sold many 4wd Yanmars and none that I know of have broken 4wd drivelines. Loaders are the main cause of driveline failures in ALL compact tractors. Any compact used as a bulldozer (some owners of these tractors with loaders seem to think they are bulldozers) is subject to expensive failures. We currently have a Kubota in the shop that will cost the owner well over a grand to fix, due to a broken front axle. ....
